Marilyn
Marilyn had blond hair and one dream
walking out the house with a smile
she twirled around the oaks with these pain she couldn't release
when Marilyn died she was 17
And I couldn't repair what has been done
when Marilyn cried she was alone
The emptiness she felt and poetry book on her side
when Marilyn attempted suicide
Why on earth Marylin, the politicians and their screams,
on the one channel TV could have done that to you?
The early morning breeze on her feet
couldn't heal the sad eyed Lady asleep
the hourglass was short and the pillow-case bitter
when Marilyn's life sifted away from her
Why on earth Marylin, the politicians and their screams,
on the one channel TV could have done that to you?
they cleaned the place after, the room was bare
not a single trace of Marilyn
I drank myself to death, I drank my sorrow that day
and the rain when they carried Marilyn away
Why on earth Marylin, the politicians and their screams,
on the one channel TV could have done that to you?
