Elizabeth Bay

The morning has worn her favourite dress,
the grey pearly one she once sewed herself
with tears of a cloud someone had saddened
forging the landscape, the hills and the mountain.

I sought a shelter in the lee of a rock
staring at the layout draped in the smoke,
I reached a stick and drew one face like a fruit
glanced at the horizon line hoping for the fleet.

But the storm kept going on for more than few days,
the morning didn't change nor the shade of the lay,
my feet became numbed and in the dark i strayed
Nobody approached Elizabeth bay.

My vision was blurry and my bones were sore
I once thought i was gone but i was gone before.
I wrestle alone in my old endeavour,
with boredom sweating through my every pore

Forlorn and bruised, the time has done
his work of a lifetime in a week or some.
I wish i could see again my shire, I pray
but nobody approaches Elizabeth bay.
